"Devil's Island" as featured in the James Bond movie "Dr. No".
While Junior and I were enjoying the Jamaican countryside, some others in our group slept through it all. This is what happens when you indulge in the national beer the night before a trip.
"Visitors to Jamaica spend US$19 million on locally produced handicraft items." In other words, tourism is Jamaica's #1 economic revenue generator. Tourists might look strange, but be nice to them anyway.
Plane Stop - Pub and Cook Shop

This is where some ganja smugglers tried to escape the police in the late 60s. The plane wreckage is the main attraction.

This interesting building has a bar on the first floor, a court on the second, and a church on the third. As the saying goes: "You'll get drunk on the first floor, convicted on the second, and receive total forgiveness on the third".
Travelling down Queens Highway.
Kaiser Jamaica Bauxite Plant

This plant prepares bauxite (which is used to make aluminum) for shipping. It takes 6 tons of bauxite to make 1 ton of aluminum.

Discovery Bay

Columbus first arrived in Jamaica here and called it "Puerto Seco" (dry harbor) because of the lack of fresh water streams in the area.

Hillside.
Llandovry countryside near Chukka Cove.
Rio Chico

Home of Butch Stewart (one of Jamaica's most prominent and successful businessmen) and formerly the home of Arthur Ash.

Primary school students walking home from Chester All-Age School.
Statue of Christopher Columbus in St. Ann's Bay. Mr. Columbus sports a remarkable tan in this rendering. A bit blurry....sorry!
Inland mountains near St. Ann's Bay.
A view of Runaway Bay from the hills. This area got this name because of the many people who tried to flee to (what is now) Cuba to escape from the Spaniards.
Can you guess where we are?
The Rio Bueno River separates Trelawny Parish and St. Ann's Parish (which is known for its ganja and inspiration for many Bob Marley songs).
Plane Stop - Pub and Cook Shop

This is where some ganja smugglers tried to escape the police in the late 60s. The plane wreckage is the main attraction. Note the upside-down U.S. flag.
